Pride and Prejudice
Yeah, I'm one of those who actually will watch the one with Keira Knightley. I don't mind it. I mean, just because they didn't add a bunch of random scenes to make girls fall in love with Colin Firth doesn't mean it's not a good movie. I feel very strongly about movies made from books. Even though I prefer the book usually, I understand that the movie is not the book and it just can't possibly be the book. Oh well. I'm ranting.

I'm another one of those odd people who liked the Pride and Prejudice movie with Keira Knightley. Then, again, I haven't watched the one with Colin Firth. Any thoughts on that one? Worth watching?

The BBC P&P is *fantastic* and if you haven't seen it, you should. That being said, the 2005 version is a better movie. A better adaptation? Probably not. But if you're not worried about the story and all that stuff, the 2005 version is much prettier to watch. And it's considerably shorter, which is a huge plus in my opinion. And I really like Keira Knightley as Lizzy. She plays a more modern character, and I like her in the role because I do think Lizzy should be beautiful, but not England-of-the-early-nineteenth-century beautiful, and she isn't. And then there's the issue of Colin Firth's glaring kind of scaring me....(And I seem to be in the minority; it seems like *everyone* swoons at the wet shirt scene....) So really, I'd have to say that I do prefer the new version. Minus the ending. I hate the ending. So I just hit stop before the final scene. As it is, the last movie I saw was "Twilight." And embarrassingly, I enjoyed it. (I'm not a fan.) That being said, I wasn't feeling well and I do have a high tolerance for bad movies. Just because I can pick out the faults doesn't mean I don't enjoy it. Besides, James was awesome and that scene when Edward and Bella arrive at school together for the first time and RPattz is wearing those sunglasses? I'd buy the DVD just to watch that scene over and over.
